Hello, and thank you for your interest in becoming a Mazatlán Tourist Aide Volunteer! We are always looking for new volunteers to add to our group!
The Mazatlán Tourist Aide Volunteers were started in 2011, primarily to assist cruise ship passengers so they have the best experience while in Mazatlán. Our target demographic is still the cruise ship passenger, but we answer any and all questions from a variety of people.
We have several 'positions', primarily in Centro Historico and Playa Sur, that we 'man' during days cruise ships are in port. These are spots along the 'blue line' that have a large number of tourists passing by. We also have a location at the Plazuela Machado, the Cathedral, and the Gold Zone. Then we have what we call 'roving' positions where you make your own walking route. In the past we have also assisted during Artwalk.
As a Mazatlán Tourist Aide Volunteer we only ask a few things - no discussion of religion or politics (between volunteers and with visitors); no discussion of cartel violence (it rarely affects tourists, but paints an unfair picture of Mazatlán); and no suggesting one particular business over another.
If this still sounds like a good fit for you, we would like to start you off with a training session with one of our seasoned volunteers. Please complete the questionnaire below and we will be in touch to get you started!
We look forward to having you in our team!
